Thomson Airways increases number of flights from Cardiff

10 September 2009

Thomson Airways is today delighted to announce that it will be increasing the number of flights from Cardiff airport to Tenerife and Sharm el Sheikh (Egypt). The extra flights have been added in response to strong demand from customers for these destinations from Cardiff airport.

The revised flight programme will result in an extra flight per week to both Tenerife and Sharm el Sheikh from Cardiff airport from the end of March to the end of April 2010. This will take the number of flights operating from Cardiff to Tenerife to three per week, and the number of flights to Sharm el Sheikh to two per week during this period.

Neil Morris, Strategic Planning Director for TUI Travel UK, said: “We are delighted to be able to announce more flights from Cardiff airport. Today’s announcement demonstrates our firm commitment to UK regional airports, such as Cardiff, which offer easy access to faraway destinations for all our customers.“

Spencer Birns, Head of Air Service Development at Cardiff airport, said: “We welcome Thomson’s decision to increase the frequency of services to Tenerife and Egypt which are both popular winter sun destinations. There is a strong demand in South Wales and we’re glad to see Thomson recognising this need and responding by giving Welsh passengers more frequent services from their local airport.

“We would encourage all travellers looking to get away this winter to look at what’s available from Cardiff.”
